Planning to visit Costa Rica? Here’s what you need to know

UPDATE

As of the 6th of August 2020, tourists can enter Costa Rica with an international travel insurance with covers medial, hospital and lodging expenses generated by the Covid-19 disease.

Costa Rica is receiving foreign national tourists and residents. Here’s what to know if you plan to visit:

  • You can fly in from Canada, United Kingdom and the European Union. You must prove that you have been at least 14 days in the country of departure before departing to Costa Rica. This will be reviewed by the stamps on your passport.
  • Requirements for entry into Costa Rica for tourists are as follows:
    • Covid-19 test, the one accepted is real-time polymerase chain reaction test, also called PCR-RT.
    • You must not have any symptoms, and use a mask during the whole flight.
    • You must fill the Health Pass or “Pase de Salud”, found here.
    • You must acquire a travel insurance that covers Covid-19 medical and related expenses, issued by an authorized insurer in the country.
  • If you are a resident who were out of the country, you can reenter from any of the authorized destinations. Requirements for entry into Costa Rica are as follows:
    • You must fill the Health Pass or “Pase de Salud”, found here.
    • You must present a valid DIMEX card.
    • You must present a payment confirmation for the Social Security, or CAJA, meaning you are up to date with the social security. It can be obtained through here.
    • You will be presented with a sanitary order, for the self-quarantine.
